Frank joined Prime Minister's Department in 1951, served in Research Officer and Senior Research Officer positions in Economic; Social Welfare; Parliamentary and Government; Cabinet;and Education & Cultural Affairs Divisions.

I was also Personal Assistant to the Secretary of the Department, Sir Allen Brown; Secretary to the Federal Executive Council under Governors-General Lord De L'Isle and Lord Casey;and Parliamentary Liaison Officer working with Harold Holt as Leader of the Government in the House of Representatives. This position also involved working with Gough Whitlam when he was Leader of Opposition Business in the House of Representatives.

I served as Robert Menzies' Senior Private Secretary for his last two and a half years and with Harold Holt for his first fifteen months.
I travelled to Asia with Holt on two occasions and with John Gorton, as an advisor, to US.
As far as the media is concerned I commented on the Queensland part of the 1972 federal elections for TV channel 7and radio 4IP Ipswich. From 1972-77, as Secretary and Publicity Officer for the North Coast Passionfruit Growers' Association, I had a weekly segment on Radio 4NA Nambour country hour. From 1978-1983 I handled media enquiries to Ralph Hunt while he was Minister for Health and then Minister for Transport.
From 1995-97 I facilitated U3A current affairs groups at 2 campuses in Melbourne, Doncaster-Templestowe and Yarra Valley.
Although my background in Canberra goes back some years many of the political, parliamentary and public service practices have remained the same and I feel I can still give some insight into the "goings-on" in Canberra as against the stories being reported in our newspapers and on TV or radio.
